We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual who is passionate about enhancing the wellbeing of others through meaningful activities and social engagement. This Activity Coordinator role offers the opportunity to make a positive difference in the daily lives of our residents by creating enjoyable, stimulating, and person-centred activities in a caring and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organise, and deliver a varied programme of activities that meet the social, emotional, physical, and recreational needs of residents.
  • Encourage residents to participate in activities that promote independence, wellbeing, and inclusion.
  • Take residents’ individual interests, preferences, and abilities into account when planning activities and events.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, families, and colleagues to create a welcoming and engaging environment.
  • Support residents during group and one-to-one activities, ensuring their safety, comfort, and enjoyment at all times.
  • Maintain accurate records of activities and resident participation where required.
  • Report any concerns regarding residents’ wellbeing to the appropriate senior staff member.

About You

  • Previous experience working within a care home or similar setting is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • A creative, enthusiastic, and caring approach with a genuine interest in improving residents’ quality of life.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work shifts and support special events where required.

We are proud to be part of the John Whitgift Foundation, a local charity in Croydon, whose mission is to provide education for the young and care for the elderly since its establishment by our Founder, Archbishop John Whitgift, in 1596.

Our passion for care also extends to the wider local community through our Carers’ Information Service that provides invaluable information, support and advice to an estimated 30,000 carers in Croydon.

All our staff take part in a structured training programme which is tailored to each individual and is geared to help them to offer the high standards of care that are expected in a Whitgift Care home.
